| Upon the suggestion of a number of Club Members, and having been endorsed by rule experts, we have decided to establish a new local rule in the setting-up of the aforesaid three dropping zones with effect from 1st February, 2011.
The idea is to provide an extra option to a golfer in the event that it is known, or virtually certain, that the ball being hit by him has gone beyond the Green at Hole 4 and 5 and is in the hazard zone. In this case, he can either proceed under Rule 26, or make use of the dropping zone to carry on with the hole by dropping a ball within the zone under a one stroke penalty. For Hole 20, the ball must be found but is unplayable to render the local rule applicable. If it is lost in the bush, the player must play another ball, under penalty of one stroke as laid down in Rule 27, as near as possible to the spot from which the original ball was last played, to complete the hole.
